Celebrating Jones County: Extension’s Impact and the Heritage Festival

The Pollocksville Filling Station Director, Mary Ann LeRay, recently sat down with Jacob Morgan, Director of N.C. Cooperative Extension – Jones County Center and Co-Chair of the Jones County Heritage Festival Committee, to discuss the excitement building for this year’s event:

With the festival only weeks away, the conversation was a wonderful chance to highlight the mission and activities of the festival, which continues to bring the community together year after year.

The 16th Annual Jones County Heritage Festival kicks off on Friday, September 26, 2025, from 7PM-10PM* with a concert featuring The Embers ft. Craig Woolard and opening act Zack Lee Music. Festival-goers can hit the dance floor during the Cut the Rug Challenge or simply sit back, relax, and enjoy concessions and beer while the music plays.

The celebration continues on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 9AM-3PM, beginning with a festive parade from 9AM-10AM. The day will be filled with activities for all ages, including the Local Entertainment Show, hands-on heritage activities, kayaking at Brock Mill Pond, local vendors at both the Brock Mill and the Civic Center, amusement rides, and the always-popular Jones County 4-H Cow Pie Bingo.

It’s shaping up to be a weekend full of music, community, and tradition - an event you won’t want to miss.
