Heritage Exhibitors

Step into a world of history and culture by visiting our Heritage Exhibitors! Explore fascinating displays, artifacts, and stories that showcase the rich tapestry of our shared past.

From vintage photographs to traditional crafts, each exhibitor offers a unique glimpse into the heritage and traditions that have shaped our community. It's an educational and eye-opening experience that connects us to our roots.

Archery

Experience the thrill of archery at the festival! Test your aim and skill in a fun and safe environment suitable for all ages. Provided by the Cape Fear Bow Hunters Association.

Location: At the Jones County Civic Center - Outside
Time: 9AM-4PM
Cost: FREE - donations accepted.

RULES:
  1. Each participant will be able to shoot 5 arrows.
  2. Please adhere to the safety guidelines provided by the Cape Fear Bow Hunters to ensure the safety of yourself, them, and other festival attendees.

Hay Toss

Get ready to flex those muscles and show off your throwing skills! Join us for a thrilling Hay Toss Competition that promises a day of friendly rivalry and loads of fun.

Location: At the Jones County Civic Center - Outside
Time: 9AM-2PM
Cost: $2 per entry. Contestants may enter as many times as they wish.
RULES:
  1. Contestants must stand behind the line to throw.
  2. The hay bale must be released before your forward momentum carries you over the throwing line.  This is determined at a designated judges discretion and results in immediate disqualification of that toss.
  3. No revolutions are allowed prior to the throw.
  4. Each contestant is allowed one toss per entry.
  5. Distance and Accuracy matter! Distance will be determined by distance of the nearest point of the hay bale from the throw line minus the closest part of the hay bale to the center line. Ex. If the hay bale is thrown 20 feet measured along the centerline and is 4 feet from the center line.  The distance is 16 feet.  (20-4=16)
  6. Absolutely NO REFUNDS. This includes tosses that are disqualified.

Frying Pan Toss

Ready, set, throw! Join us for the ultimate Cast Iron Pan Throwing Competition, where strength and precision come together for a day of exhilarating fun. Channel your inner strength and perfect your technique as you compete against friends and fellow participants.

Location: At the Jones County Civic Center - Outside
Time: 9AM-2PM
Cost: $2 per entry. Contestants may enter as many times as they wish.
RULES: 
  1. Contestants must stand behind the line to throw and remain behind the line at all times.
  2. Contestants must throw underhanded.
  3. Contestants are allowed one attempt per entry.
  4. Contestants may take only one forward step
  5. No revolutions are allowed. This is not the hammer throw.
  6. Distance and Accuracy matter! Distance will be determined by distance of the nearest point of the frying pan from the throw line minus the closest part of the frying pan to the center line. Ex. If the frying pan is thrown 40 feet measured along the centerline and is 5 feet from the center line.  The distance is 35 feet.  (40-5=35)
  7. Absolutely NO REFUNDS. This includes tosses that are disqualified.

Kid's Corner

Bring your little ones and let them explore, learn, and make new friends in a safe and engaging environment. Join us at the Kid's Corner, where every moment is an adventure waiting to happen!

Location: At the Jones County Civic Center - Outside
Time: 9AM-4PM
Cost: FREE
RULES: 
  1. Supervision: Parents or guardians, please supervise your children at all times. This helps create a safe and enjoyable environment for all kids.
  2. Respect Others: Treat fellow young adventurers with kindness and respect. We're all here to have fun, so let's be good friends to one another.
  3. Share and Take Turns: Sharing is caring! Please share play equipment with others. Taking turns ensures everyone gets a chance to enjoy the activities.
  4. Clean Up: After playing with the equipment please help us keep the Kid's Corner tidy by cleaning up after yourselves.
  5. Listen to Staff: Our friendly staff is here to help you have a great time. Listen to their instructions and follow their guidance for a safe and enjoyable experience.
  6. Stay Safe: Play safely and use equipment as intended. Running, roughhousing, or climbing on unsuitable structures can lead to accidents. Let's all stay safe and injury-free.

Tobacco Looping Station

Learn the art of looping and tying tobacco leaves at your own pace. It's a unique and hands-on experience that allows you to appreciate the skill and tradition behind tobacco production.

Location: At the Jones County Civic Center - Outside
Time: 9AM-4PM
Cost: FREE
RULES: 
  1. Respect the Craft: Use the provided materials and tools for their intended purpose. Do not waste or misuse any supplies.
  2. Age Restrictions: Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
  3. Respect Others: Be considerate of other participants and their personal space. Enjoy the experience together in a friendly and respectful manner.
  4. Clean Up: After completing your tobacco looping activity, ensure your workspace is clean and organized. Return all materials and tools to their designated areas.
  5. No Tobacco Sales: Our station is for educational and recreational purposes only. There will be no tobacco sales or distribution on-site.
  6. Supervised Guidance: While this station is designed for independent crafting, our staff is available to provide guidance and answer questions as needed.
  7. Enjoy and Learn: Embrace the opportunity to create your own tobacco bundle and learn about the art of tobacco looping. Engage in discussions with our staff to deepen your understanding of this traditional craft.
